Synchronize multiple sensors frames¶
This guide describes how to configure and synchronize multiple AMFITRACK sensors using a central hub, ensuring consistent frame ID alignment across all devices. This is crucial for accurate position data correlation.
Prerequisites¶
A hub or source hub device
Two or more AMFITRACK sensors
All devices must be operating at the same sample rate
Configuration Mode must be set to 2 to access required settings
Note
The term frame ID refers to the sequential number of each data package sent from a sensor since system startup. There is no timestamp associated. If transmitting both position data and B-field data, those two will have the same frame ID number.
Configuration of the Hub / Source Hub¶
To synchronize frame IDs from multiple sensors, the following hub configurations must be set:
- Use Synchronization: True
UID: 1581348091
Enables synchronization on the hub.
Can be found in Hardware config tab
- Sync Rate [Hz]: 0
UID: 1581347624
A value of 0 makes the sync signal follow the sample rate. Any other value sets a fixed sync rate.
Can be found in Hardware config tab
- External Sync: False
UID: 1581347654
If True, the hub listens for an external sync signal. Set to False to allow the hub to drive the sync.
Can be found in Hardware config tab
Sensor Configuration¶
Each sensor must also be configured to receive synchronization:
- Use Synchronization: True
UID: 1581348091
Activates synchronization on the sensor.
Can be found in Hardware config tab
- Sync Rate [Hz]: 0
UID: 1581347624
Not relevant for sensors; ignored during operation.
Can be found in Hardware config tab
- External Sync: True
UID: 1581347654
Enables listening for sync signals from the hub over RF.
Can be found in Hardware config tab
Warning
Ensure that both the hub and all connected sensors are operating at the same sample rate. Mismatched will result in message frequency drop drastic
